Death of the Information Products Business

Denver | October 29, 2020August 12, 2021

When I started in this business, the switch in cars from 8-Track tapes to cassettes had just been completed, and the business was about books and tapes; about individual products. By the time Jeff Paul and I started helping people launch niched info-businesses with the basic JPDK model, it was no longer about individual products, but about a multi-product, multi-media “kit” purchase followed by ascension. I quickly advanced this to much more sophisticated business models combining ascension and continuity, then forced continuity, with boot camps and coaching. Still, though, most info-businesses today have information products at their core, at their foundation, and at every level. Most continuity programs feature the old “tape of the month”. Most businesses with seminars then sell recordings of the seminars – although Ron LeGrand has, I believe stopped doing so, and at Glazer-Kennedy, we have stopped selling recordings of the Super Conferences. But with rare exceptions, most info-businesses have a lot to do with info-products.

It is my belief the Info-products business is already a Dead Man Walking, and in a very short time, anybody dependent on product for revenue and profit will be out of business. There are several reasons for this, I’d like to briefly discuss before moving on to what may be the next evolution of the business.

First, technology. It has gotten cheaper and cheaper and easier and easier to illegally duplicate the products. AT one time, to copy a video cassette, you had to wire two video tape machines together. A company called “Go Video” invented, patented and started selling dual tape machines-and were briefly stopped by lawsuits from video product producers. That sounds quaint now. Your computer can burn CD’s; you can download everything from the Internet. Etc. John can buy a set of CD’s, easily transfer them to his computer, return them for refund, make his own CD’s, and e-mail the audio file to his friends, entire sales force, etc. so they get copies free — and John does exactly that. Actually, there’s no need to bother with the CD’s at all once the content is stolen; it can be loaded directly into everybody’s iPods. The printed matter is similarly, easily scanned into the computer and e-mailed freely. Virtually any and all intellectual property is now easily ripped off.

The Internet has multiplied, magnified and furthered the rampant theft exponentially and, ultimately, will play the major role in the destruction of all copyright and intellectual property value. It has also provided the marketplace for easy sale and distribution of stolen intellectual property and info-products. eBay is complicit in the piracy, only interferes with sale of such stolen goods under extreme duress, and then policing eBay is like playing the kids’ game Whack-A-Mole; as soon as you hit the thief on the head, he pops up out of another hole.

Google has defied the entire publishing industry, scanned into his library hundreds of thousands of copyrighted works, and is making hunks of them searchable and available with zero compensation to their authors or publishers. Google is also readying launch of an online swap meet competitive with eBay. Media wiz Barry Diller recently paid a fortune to buy a lesser search engine, Ask Jeeves, and fully intends to use it for entertainment and information content delivery, so as to make money from advertisers. In a way, the Internet is simultaneously becoming the new TV, new newspapers and new magazines but with unlimited, dirt cheap storage and delivery of content, and unbridled piracy. For a growing number of consumers, it renders the need or desire or respect for ‘hard product’ obsolete.

This entire situation can only get worse, not better. Second, the dramatic decline in morality and integrity. The only thing capable of protecting the value of information products in the brave new techno-world I just described would be the honesty of the majority of the consumers, so that they would not steal nor accept stolen goods or content. That did exist at one time. Anecdotally, I can tell you that, as recently as 7 to 10 years ago. it was common for honest customers to tell me of

Purse Accessories That Keep A Girl On The Go Calm Collected

Denver | October 28, 2020August 12, 2021

As I started going through my purse today, I tried to figure out what I absolutely needed to keep in there and what I could live without. It was no easy task. Most girls love their purse accessories. We never want to be at a party or family get together without the little accessories that are quite handy. These items include accessories such as a pocket mirror, lipstick, flashlight, swiss knife, Kleenex, hand sanitizer, gum, a petite sewing kit, and the list goes on and on.

So what CAN’T you live without when it comes to purse accessories? The fact of the matter is that there are a lot of fun purse accessories that come in handy when you least expect it. They also make great Christmas gifts for your girlfriends. Or husbands…have you thought about small accessories for your wife?

A pocket mirror is a great purse accessory to have. You can pull it out of your purse during a holiday get together, especially if the bathroom is occupied. If you are heading into a meeting at work and need a quick glance at your appearance, a pocket mirror is also ideal. The Anuschka Pocket Mirror is one such pocket mirror that you can consider as a Christmas gift or even as a gift to yourself! The beautiful design will delight and inspire your friends and make you smile as you pull it out of your purse.

Have peace of mind and keep safe with a mini flashlight packed safely inside your purse. A mini flashlight is useful when and if an emergency should arise or if the electricity goes out unexpectedly.

Most every woman knows where her purse is when she’s in a building. Reach inside your purse for easy access to a flashlight when the lights are out or you need to find something under a desk or in a dark location. Invest in a 200 Hour Glow Mini Flashlight.

Chapstick is a nice break from lipgloss and lipstick. It also comes in so many different flavors! Chapstick instantly moisturizes your lips when you are out shopping, enjoying nature, or even when you are at work! I love keeping chapstick in my purse, especially when I’m in Utah where the climate is very dry. I constantly have to apply chapstick to keep my lips moist during the cold winter months!

Buy a Classic Strawberry 3 Pack to save dry and chapped lips. If you want to save some money check out Drugstore.com coupons on JoeShopping before you buy some new chapstick!

Like keeping your nails looking nice?

Put a nail file in your purse or clutch and reach for it when a nail with rough edges is bugging you. You can get rid of those annoying edges in no time at all!

Or better yet, find a special nail file that has a buff and shine technique. You’ll have shiny nails that you can buff during the day when you feel like they are looking a little dull! A Tweezerman SPA Nail Buffer and File will keep your nails shiny and you won’t have to worry about heading to the spa.

For a dollar you can invest in a mini hand sanitizer and pull it out after going out to dinner or even before you eat! If a sick person happens to be sneezing up a storm near you, whip out your hand sanitizer and put it on your hands often in case you should accidentally touch your eyes, nose or mouth. Keep the germs away and keep the hand sanitizer near by!

e.l.f. has a small e.l.f. Bath and Body Small Hand Sanitizer that you can buy for $1. Put it in your purse and pull it out when you need it the most!

Fashion requires a lot more than just looking nice. It means staying organized and keeping the small items that come in handy in your purse. When you’re going out at night or grabbing lunch with a friend, you might need the pocket mirror or hand sanitizer before you eat. Stock up on some cute and practical accessories during the holiday season. They also are very useful when you are traveling to see loved ones and family members!

Play And Be Playful In A Relaxing Romper

Denver | October 22, 2020August 12, 2021

Lately I’ve really been into rompers. Even though I’m considered short, well, at least by my standards (I’m 5’5″), I still love to wear a comfy romper. It doesn’t matter where I wear my romper – whether it’s at the beach, lounging around at home, or lounging on an outside chair like this lovely model is doing in the picture to the left, a romper is a versatile piece of clothing that you definitely should own.

Rompers feel comfy because they usually are made out of cotton or terry cloth, both which are very soft and relaxing materials. But the good news is that a romper also can be dressed up with a pair of pumps for some added height and style. So don’t be afraid to hit the town while wearing a romper and sporting a new pair of sparkly pumps. Rompers are great for either dressing up or dressing down – let your mood fuel and create a fun outfit!

Here are some rompers that have caught my eye:

BCBGeneration Jumper – $60

If you’re familiar with rompers and own a few that only have a certain style and pattern, perhaps it’s time to switch it up and get some basic rompers too. For starters, why not try out another romper, this time from BCBG?

Black is a color that’s naturally very slimming and with a classy black romper like this, I think it would be a great addition to your wardrobe for the summer. This particular romper is backless, which adds some style to the black romper. Plus it’s BCBG – who can go wrong with a quality brand name like this?!

Xhilaration Juniors Ruffle Romper – $18

If your young teenager is looking for a romper, Target has a lot to choose from. With fun patterns in style right now, like chevron and more, you’ll have no problem finding a romper she will love too! Or – you never know, even women can fit into Junior’s sizes sometimes too. Just up the size one or two sizes and it should work out just fine.

Billabong Rompin Around Romper – $17

If you love turquoise as much as I do this is a great “beginners” romper if you’ve never worn one before and are looking for one that’s affordable but is still made from a quality brand name like Billabong. Billabong is definitely known for their beachy attire and this romper is no exception.

Most rompers are very stretchy and comfy and have great features, like an elastic waistband which helps create plenty of breathing room. This Billabong romper also has a stretchy waist, which is a great feature on an outfit to have while you’re out and about and grabbing a few snacks to eat. I have to admit the elastic waistband is one of my favorite features on rompers. Breathing room is much needed if you’re headed to the beach or are out with the girls and want to have a yummy dinner. Don’t be concerned about the stretchy waist, however, because a romper will still make you look slim with its great design.

Obey Light Forest Romper – $20

Another lightweight and airy romper, this breezy cotton romper by Obey is playful to wear during the summer time as well! Playful warm weather wear is exactly what you need when the months warm up. Go out and play some games and have some fun!

So are you ready to find a romper for the warm months? This is besides the point, but a romper is also known as a jumper! Whether you wear a romper or jumper (basically the same thing), they are super comfy and you definitely don’t want to miss out on this trend.

Even if you’re laying out at the pool or reading a good book, a romper is perfect to wear during many occasions. In addition – wear a romper as a swimsuit cover up or to relax in at home! Versatile rompers are cute, comfy, and super relaxing. Trust me, I know. I own two and the third one is on its way in the mail.

Live The Life While Still Being Green

Denver | October 10, 2020August 12, 2021

Today, it’s quite possible for people to live environmentally-friendly lives while still (if you’ll excuse the phrase) living large. Just look at celebrities like Leonardo DiCaprio. He’s so green that he makes a point of flying commercially, instead of using a private jet. Yet, he still has a California mansion (powered by solar panels) and a luxurious New York apartment (which employs a fleet of hybrid limousines).

Of course, most of us probably can’t afford to go out and get one of those awesome electric Tesla Roadsters, but that doesn’t mean we have to quit living our normal lives in order to reduce our carbon footprint.

Here are just a few everyday ways to live green while still living the life.

Energy Star everything. No one wants to give up their refrigerator—or even their ginormous flatscreen TV—but there are still ways to have what you want and cause less of an environmental impact. One of the best standardized ways of doing this is to buy appliances with the Energy Star logo. Products sporting this label have been certified to use lower amounts of energy than their less-efficient brethren, which means that you can not only feel better about helping the environment, but also enjoy lower energy bills.

Head to the farmer’s market. Want some of the freshest, best-tasting fruits and veggies you’ve ever had? Take a little trip to your local farmer’s market and make a point to buy from there instead of the giant supermarket down the street. You’ll get great food that lasts longer, and you can smile knowing you’re supporting local growers instead of buying food that may come from across the country—or even the world!

Change your faucets and shower heads. We all know that we should take shorter showers and turn off water when we don’t absolutely need to use it, but sometimes it’s hard to change your habits. Plus, there’s something nice about being able to luxuriate in a warm shower for a half hour after a long day. Well, one great way to have your cake and eat it too is to install low-flow faucets, shower heads, and even toilets. These can reduce your water consumption by half or more without you ever noticing a thing. Pretty amazing, right?

Buy CFLs. Remember how your mom and dad used to scold you for leaving lights on because you were running up the electric bill? Well, by switching out your old bulbs with energy-efficient CFLs, you’re often using less than half the power of regular bulbs—sometimes far less than half. We’re not saying that you should just leave your lights on all the time from now on, but at the very least you won’t have to feel as bad about it. Just as valuable—CFLs last a lot longer than regular bulbs so you won’t have to worry about replacing them for years.

Recharge. Batteries are the ultimate disposable form of energy but if you live in the modern world, they’re pretty impossible to avoid—especially if you have a kid. One great way to save the environment (and money) is to buy batteries that can be recharged—many up to 1000 times! That way you can keep using all of your favorite electronics without feeling guilty.

Be Creative For Fathers Day With Handmade Gifts And Outdoor Activities

Denver | September 29, 2020August 12, 2021

Father’s Day is quickly approaching and even though I won’t be with my dad this Father’s Day, I’ll be thinking of him. For Father’s Day we usually like to do an activity that’s fun, like go out to dinner or hang out at our house and watch a TV show or movie. Father’s day is usually low key and it’s fun that way. We also like to exchange presents and just spend time with one another (brother and mom included).

Just like any holiday, Father’s Day can get expensive. Dinner adds up and by the time you’ve bought your dad a gift and taken the entire family out for dinner, you’ve maybe spent $100 or so. I’ve been thinking of ways that Father’s Day can still be interactive, but without spending a lot of money. After all, I guarantee that your dad doesn’t care that much about how much money you spend, but all he really wants is to spend quality time with you. Here are some ideas on how to keep it real with your dad by letting him know how much you appreciate him while still saving some money in the process.

Handmade Gifts

Handmade gifts for your dad are a great way to save money on Father’s day and many of these gifts can vary. It can be as simple as writing him a poem (if you like to write), telling him about how much you care. Or – the poem can be silly, which will make him laugh or even cry! Try putting the poem inside of a bottle so that he can reach inside of the bottle and retrieve it. It’s a simple yet fun way to get the message across that you’re grateful for your dad!

If you’d like to include something creative with your message in a bottle, go to a grocery store and buy his favorite snacks. They may be nuts, or they may even be gummy bears! Either way, you can package them on your own with a jar that you have lying around at home or make his favorite hot sauce with a recipe. Put the made at home hot sauce in an old hot sauce bottle you have or empty out the leftover hot sauce in a current bottle if it is almost gone. He’ll love the food and even more, he’ll love the personal touch!

Another handmade gift? If you have a favorite picture, you can find an inexpensive frame to frame the picture. My dad loves having pictures in his office and having an updated picture in a nice frame is a great gift that any dad will love to receive on Father’s Day. If you have an idea of what his office style is, find him a black frame or wood frame depending on what the main office colors are.

Need more ideas? A handmade apron is creative and fun for children to create for their dad! All you need is a cotton apron in your dad’s size of course, fabric markers or paint, and paint brushes! It will be fun to create an apron that dad can wear while he barbecues with you, celebrating his fantastic day.

Get Active Outdoors!

Since Father’s Day lands on a Saturday this year, it’s time to head outdoors and be active! Take your dad to a soccer field and kick around the soccer ball. It will be fun! Or – grab a Frisbee and go to the park. There are many sports and activities that will make interacting with your dad even more fun and memorable on Father’s Day.

What about playing a game of tennis or playing a round of golf with him? Playing golf is a fun way to interact with your dad, and if you are a mom who has younger kids, why not have them play miniature golf with their dad? Either activity will be enjoyable and you could also make a fun handmade gift full of golf tees, for example, to go along with the activity you choose.

Another idea is to set up a picnic outside in your backyard for your dad. This doesn’t require a lot of money, it simply requires creativity. Have fun gathering up his favorite blanket, comfy pillows, and maybe even a radio that will play your dad’s favorite tunes. Then make him a delicious meal and serve him outdoors. He’ll love the creative touch!

Whatever you end up doing for your dad on Father’s Day, make it creative and he will love whatever you come up for him. Remember to enjoy this special day with your dad because it only comes once a year! Tell your dad how much you appreciate him in a creative way and he’ll love your thoughtfulness.

What are you doing for dad on Father’s Day?

A Ruffly Romantic Valentines Day Outfit For Around 100

Denver | September 25, 2020August 12, 2021

With Valentine’s Day approaching it’s time to think about what outfit you are going to wear. I’m away from my love this Valentine’s Day so my outfit is going to consist of a pair of jeans and a nice top! I’m not sure what I’m going to do on that day either. All I know is, if you have a date planned or you’re just going out with the girls, it’s fun to dress up and look gorgeous.

Instead of paying $150 or more for just a dress, I decided to help you out and find an affordable and cute dress, shoes and necklace ensemble, all for about $100! Since the colors pink and red and a ruffle pattern definitely fit into a Valentine’s Day theme, I searched for complementary apparel. I hope you like what I came up with.

A quick aside: I like to think of this Heart Day as not only a day to give some extra love to a spouce, boyfriend or girlfriend, but as a day to spread the love in general. I usually like to send my girlfriends a little something in the mail just so that they know that they are loved.

Asymmetrica Shoulder Floral Ruffled Dress – $30

I came across a great brand name called YesStyle and they make gorgeous dresses that come all the way from Taiwan! For $30 you can wear a sweet and simple dress on Valentine’s Day. This dress is made out of polyester, can be machine washed, and is in a perfect shade of pink. I would wear this dress on Valentine’s Day in a heartbeat.

Macy’s has some incredible deals right now and one great piece of jewelry you can pick up is this lovely heart key pendant. I love that this is not your traditional heart necklace, it goes with the theme “key to my heart” and has a perfectly pink diamond in the center. I would wear this for Valentine’s Day and beyond! It’s so beautiful and lovely and would work with so many more outfits.

Madden Girl Toriie Heels Platform Wedge Shoes – $44

To finish off this lovely outfit I think a pair of pink colored pumps will complement the outfit just right. They will definitely highlight the lovely pinks in the outfit and also will look beautiful on your feet!

The Grand Total? $104

I was really hoping to make our outfit for under $100, but when I saw the Madden Girl shoes I just couldn’t resist. They go with the outfit perfectly and if you’re not afraid of pink, this outfit is definitely for you. Even if you’re a little scared of pink, take a chance!

So what do you think? Are you ready to enjoy your Valentine’s Day? I hope you have a great Heart Day full of joy and love. Even if you currently don’t have a significant other, it’s still fun to go out and celebrate!

Redecorate A Room Without Breaking The Bank

Denver | September 19, 2020August 12, 2021

Since I started blogging, one of the areas where I have been the most inspired is home design. I love the way furniture, color, patterns and eclectic pieces can come together to make the most beautiful room. I always thought that rooms needed to be pretty matchy-matchy to look good, but my eyes have really been opened by interior design blogs. We are planning to move in the next 6 months, so lately I have been paying attention to rooms that I love so that I can remember them as I plan what our next house will look like. I know that I want it to have color and simplicity while still maintaining a home-y feel.

In the meantime, while we are still living in our current house I wanted to incorporate a few of my favorite design trends. We can’t afford to do anything major right now since we aren’t planning to live here long-term, but by adding a few things here and there we can change the look of a room at a decent price!

Using the above picture, let’s look at a few quick things you can do to change a room.

Framed Wallpaper – $44.98

This is a newer trend that has become popular recently for several reasons. First of all, it’s a lot cheaper than nice framed artwork. It’s also pretty simple: find some wallpaper that you love and put it in a frame. The picture above shows a pretty large piece, but you can also do several smaller frames of wallpaper and make a gallery wall. The nice thing is that you can customize it as much as you want and switch it easily any time that you need a change!

Flowers – $19.99

Fresh flowers not only add pops of color to a room; they smell amazing, too! Flowers placed around a room can really add to the design of the room by bringing the color scheme together and adding visual interest to a room. If you aren’t into fresh flowers or think they’ll cost too much long-term, artificial flowers can be just as pretty and they last a lot longer. Try to use flowers in contrasting colors from the furniture and accents in the room so that they will really pop!

Chandelier – $250

Okay, so this one seems a little pricier, but a change in the lighting fixture can drastically change the mood and design of a room. It’s definitely worth the splurge. A chandelier makes everything look modern and put together. It’s also a major piece of eye candy in the room and really draws the eye upward. It doesn’t have to be super fancy and made of crystal. I found an antler chandelier that my husband would just love. Remind me not to show him…I don’t really want that in my house! : ) Try to find coupons to help lower the price.

Colorful Pillows – $29.99

This is the easiest one of all to do. Buy a few new pillows and the room will be completely transformed before your eyes. The key is to look for pillows in bright colors or with unique patterns. They don’t all have to match, just make sure they bring together colors in the room! The picture above has 4 different colors of pillows, yet they all work together to complete the look and feel of the room. My favorite pillows right now are the chevron pattern. I just can’t get enough of them!

Those are just a few less-expensive ways to design a room. These have been great for us in our home. Since we are planning to move, we don’t want to put a lot of money back into the house by redoing floors or painting walls. Artwork and pillows have really helped us to add color and interest to our rooms.

Look Dapper Like George Clooney

Denver | September 19, 2020August 12, 2021

George Clooney. The man that women swoon over and the great man with style that men wish they could replicate. The good news is that George’s style is actually quite simple. He sticks with neutral colors that match his salt and pepper hair. You see, it is possible to look rugged and dapper like Clooney.

With all of the hype of The Decendants, The Ides of March, and Up In The Air, it’s easy to see why everyone wants Clooney’s style and charm. I first fell for his charm while watching ER. I was pretty excited to see him jump over to the big screen and star in a romantic comedy with Michelle Pfeiffer on One Fine Day. He’s also been in several other films that I need to put on my Netflix list.

What do you think of Clooney? Do you like his style? He may seem like a complicated man, especially since he jumps around to so many different lady loves (even though I happen to like Stacy Keibler quite a bit), but in reality George is quite a simple guy. He likes to enjoy life and his choice of apparel definitely shows it.

You’ll most often see George in a classy tuxedo, a black tee-shirt and jeans, or something similar. Like I said, he very much likes to match his apparel to his attractive salt and pepper hair. Here are a few pieces of clothing that will make the guys (yes, you guys!) look like Clooney in no time.

Men’s Tee Shirt Long Sleeve by Dickies in Black – $13-$17

Simple and black, this long sleeve shirt is great to stay warm during the winter but handsome enough to wear in the spring too. Don’t worry about this shirt shrinking because it’s already made out of preshrunk cotton. The heavyweight cotton material will keep you comfy and collected.

I sense a cool Clooney look already!

Hanes Cool Dri Tagless Tee Shirt – 3 Pack – $42.95

Another great tee-shirt to consider is a soft and durable Hanes tee-shirt. This tee comes all set for you to wear with its contemporary fit and tag-free label. It is made out of a 100% preshrunk jersey-knit polyester fabric too! This type of fabric is great for a workout because it keeps away moisture or gets rid of it as you work out at the gym.

7 For All Mankind AUSTYN Relaxed Straight Jeans – $189

Yes, 7 Jeans are just a tad bit spendy, but they come at a price because they are so stylish! This happens to be my dad’s favorite pair of jeans – yes, you read that correctly! I have no doubt that Clooney also loves jeans like these too.

The relaxed fit jeans run true to size and have a straight fit. Look handsome and rugged wearing a great pair of jeans with a black or white tee and head out on a date with your significant other.

7 Jeans don’t stop with one single color or style, either. Find them in white, a standard straight leg and more!

Calvin Klein Suit – $650

This post wouldn’t be truly Clooney if I didn’t mention a dapper tuxedo! I happen to love this tux from Macy’s because it’s simple, handsome and very classy. Plus it’s by Calvin Klein!

If you’re looking for separates that might be more affordable, Clavin Klein has pants and tops at an affordable price. Find a great suit for your wedding, your friend’s wedding, or maybe just to take your sweetie out for Valentine’s Day! Now wouldn’t that be a nice surprise?! The hopeless romantic in me would love it if my boyfriend showed up in a tux with flowers! I can picture George taking Stacy out in a dapper suit just like this one!

20 Stores With No Sales Tax

Denver | September 19, 2020August 12, 2021

When you’re shopping online, you often account for things like shipping and handling fees. But sales tax can sometimes take you by surprise, adding as much as an additional 9% to your purchase price. Unfortunately, online stores are forced to tack on these taxes if they have a physical location (like a brick and mortar store or shipping warehouse) that operates in your state.

Although coupon codes and special discounts can’t be applied to sales taxes, there’s still a way to save. In many cases, most stores only apply sales tax to a handful of states. And, believe it or not, there are some stores that don’t charge any sales tax at all. In our list below, we’ve gathered up 20 different online stores that don’t charge a penny for sales tax. Even better, many of these stores also offer additional shopping perks, like free shipping and/or free returns!
